Basic Budget
Thailand Travel Desk talks about your holiday budget when travelling to Thailand. How much money should you budget for your travels? Can I afford a meal in a nice restaurant, what is the cost of a beer?
First of all, let us tell you that the cost of living in Thailand is low because we don't have high labour costs, our taxation is much lower, and because we produce/manufacture most of the products that's available domestically so that naturally makes living here quite cheap in comparison to the western world.
But again every now and then we will receive an inquiry to book an "all inclusive" resort in Thailand, and I can't help but feel sad that someone would want to eat in the same hotel everyday throughout their holidays! However could the reason for their inquiry be a result of a tight holiday budget, and a need to control their expenditures right down to the last dollar before actually leaving for holiday?
Enough said, let's take a look at some figures for comparison sakes, prices below are in Thai Baht and are approximates only;

The above is a quick and easy reference table to give you an idea of your basic expenses (beer & food). Roughly speaking, with a budget of USD 35 per person per day you can enjoy a nice lunch and dinner with 2 bottles of beer per meal, naturally the more you budget the higher end you go.
